History of IAU Bangladesh Campus
The history of International American University Bangladesh Campus (IAUBD) is rooted in the development of an international academic partnership between International American University (IAU), USA, and University Road (UR), Bangladesh. The initiative was established to create an academic delivery and student-support presence in Bangladesh while maintaining International American University in the United States as the degree-awarding institution.
The establishment of IAUBD represents an important step in expanding access to an American higher-education framework in Bangladesh. The partnership combines IAU's academic oversight, curriculum, quality-assurance framework, and degree-awarding authority with University Road's local academic delivery, student support, coordination, and operational capabilities.
Through flexible learning opportunities, experienced faculty, student-focused services, and an environment that values diversity and inclusion, IAU Bangladesh Campus strives to make quality international education more accessible to Bangladeshi students.
The Foundation of International American University
International American University, Inc. was incorporated in the State of California on August 29, 2005. According to the registration and legal-status documentation provided by IAU, the university is approved by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE).
IAU has developed a broad portfolio of academic offerings, including undergraduate and graduate programs in business, information technology, management, business analytics, management information systems, industrial and organizational psychology, and related areas. The BPPE school information included in the documentation identifies IAU as an approved institution and lists its approved programs.
The university has also established an international teaching-site presence. The TRACS documentation identifies approved international and domestic teaching sites in locations including Mongolia, Vietnam, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, and several locations in California.
Accreditation and Quality Assurance
An important part of IAU's institutional development has been its relationship with the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS).
On April 28, 2025, the TRACS Accreditation Commission granted IAU Reaffirmation of Accreditation (I), Category IV. The status became effective July 1, 2025, and is valid through June 30, 2035, subject to the conditions stated by TRACS.
The TRACS documentation lists a range of programs approved under the accreditation, including undergraduate, master's, doctoral, certificate, pathway, and other programs. It also states that IAU is approved to offer courses and programs through distance education as a Level 2 institution.
This institutional background forms an important part of the academic foundation upon which the Bangladesh partnership was developed.
Beginning of the Bangladesh Initiative
The formal development of IAUBD began through a strategic partnership between International American University and University Road.
On March 10, 2026, IAU issued an authorization letter addressed to the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh. The letter formally confirmed that IAU had entered into a strategic partnership with University Road to establish a new campus in Bangladesh to be known as International American University Bangladesh (IAUBD).
The authorization established University Road's role in assisting with the establishment, coordination, and development of IAUBD in accordance with IAU's policies, academic standards, and guidelines. The document also stated that IAU and University Road would work collaboratively to develop and operate the campus in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
